Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

Job Duties:

- Inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, etc, and other fixed mining equipment.

- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and experience.

- ****Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, adjustments, and component inspections. It is expected that the mechanic adhere to strict preventative and reporting protocols.

- Service and repair components such as engines, transmissions, braking systems, cooling systems, and undercarriage.

- Support maintenance of plant equipment as needed (crushers, conveyors, screen decks, wash plants).

-Schedule appropriate off-site repairs, when necessary.

- Complete pre- and post-shift inspections, document findings, and communicate needed repairs to supervision and PPE inspections.

- Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with all MSHA and company safety policies.

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment / heavy diesel mechanic; mining, quarry, or aggregates experience strongly preferred.

- Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mobile heavy equipment systems.

- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, parts diagrams, and basic schematics.

- Experience working in off-road conditions (quarry, construction, mining, land development, or similar).

- Own basic mechanic’s tool set; *****specialty tools provided by company.

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Able to work in all weather conditions, lift 50–100 lbs, climb ladders, and work on uneven terrain.

- Current or prior MSHA Part 46/48 training a plus (or willingness to obtain. We can provide training.

Preferred, but Not Required:

- Welding and cutting experience for basic fabrication and repair.

- Experience operating heavy equipment when needed to test repairs or assist production.
